Azure Backup FAQs
Common questions about Azure Backup.
What is the difference between Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery?
Azure Backup keeps point-in-time copies for restoring data. Azure Site Recovery replicates workloads so you can fail over to another region and keep running during an outage.
Can Azure Backup protect against ransomware?
Features such as soft delete, immutable vaults and multi-user authorization make backups much harder for attackers to delete or alter.
Can Azure Backup protect on-premises servers?
Yes, using the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services agent or Azure Backup Server for on-premises workloads.
How often should we test restores?
At least quarterly for critical systems, and after significant changes.
How is Azure Backup priced?
Mainly by the number of protected instances and backup storage consumed. We optimize retention to control cost.
