Identity governance at a glance

Who this is for

CISOs, compliance leads and IT managers who need access control evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA or internal audit.

When you need this

An audit asks for user access review evidence (for example SOC 2 CC6), access has accumulated over years, or joiners and leavers are handled manually.

Delivery model

Implementation project in Microsoft Entra ID. Licensing prerequisite: Entra ID P2 or Microsoft Entra ID Governance.

What is identity governance?

Identity governance and administration (IGA) ensures that every user, guest and workload identity has only the access it needs, for only as long as it needs it, and that this is reviewed and documented. In Microsoft environments this is delivered through Microsoft Entra ID Governance.

A user access review is a periodic check where managers or resource owners confirm or remove access to groups, applications and privileged roles.

What our service includes

  • Access reviews – recurring reviews of groups, Teams, applications, guest users and privileged roles, with automatic removal of denied access.
  • Entitlement management – access packages with approval workflows and expiry dates.
  • Lifecycle workflows – automated joiner, mover and leaver tasks, linked to our joiner-mover-leaver automation.
  • Guest user governance – review and expiry of external collaborators.
  • Privileged role reviews – combined with Privileged Identity Management.
  • Non-human identities – governance of service principals, app registrations and AI agents, see AI agent identity governance.
  • Audit evidence – exportable review history mapped to SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA controls.

Our process

  1. Access inventory – identify sensitive apps, groups, roles and guests.
  2. Design – reviewers, frequency, scope and auto-apply rules.
  3. Pilot – first review cycle with a business unit.
  4. Roll out – extend to all in-scope resources.
  5. Evidence – reporting configured for auditors.
