What is Azure governance?

Azure governance is the set of structures and guardrails that keep an Azure environment secure, compliant and cost-effective as it grows. Core tools are management groups and subscriptions for structure, Azure Policy for enforcing rules, Azure RBAC for access, and tagging and budgets for cost allocation. Governance is a core design area of an Azure landing zone.

What our service includes

  • Management group and subscription design – aligned to Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework guidance.
  • Azure Policy – allowed regions, required tags, encryption, diagnostic settings and security baselines.
  • Access control – RBAC role design and Privileged Identity Management for Azure roles.
  • Tagging standards – for ownership, environment and cost allocation, feeding FinOps.
  • Compliance reporting – regulatory compliance dashboards in Defender for Cloud.
  • Shadow subscription discovery – bring unmanaged subscriptions under governance.
  • Ongoing policy management – exemptions, new policies and drift review.

How it works

  1. Assess current structure, policies and access.
  2. Design the governance model.
  3. Implement in audit mode, then enforce.
  4. Report compliance and exceptions.
  5. Maintain as your estate grows.
